Being half Irish and half Bavarian Sonja was raised listening to and singing traditional music. She studied theatre at the University of Ulster and worked for many years as an actress, theatre producer and script reader before returning to her first love, singing. She trained for one year under Mary King as part of PULSE at London’s Southbank Centre and has since performed on the soundtrack to The War Oratorio for Channel 4, sung with Paco Pena at the Royal Fesitval Hall and collaborated with Bellowhead on Southbank Centre’s production of The Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner.
